Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health is a community based, healthcare provider of substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorder treatment services. The agency is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health as a provider of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment services and accredited through CARF as a provider of Integrated Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health services at all of its locations.

By referral, community providers of medical services are utilized by this agency to meet the needs of those clinically involved with this agency. Extensive case management and community support assistance is made available to all clients. Referrals are accepted from any social agency. medical facility, government entity, the clergy, and individuals on behalf of themselves or another. The facility is open, therefore, individuals may leave at anytime at their discretion. To be admitted for services, individuals need only to present themselves for admission. After completion of an individual standardized screening instrument, the person may then be admitted to the least restrictive treatment program. All treatment records a confidential and protected by federal and state laws.


Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health gives hiring preference to applicants who achieve National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Must be over the age of 21. Reliable judgment, good observation skills, dependability and forthright demeanor are required. Flexibility to perform shift work is essential as well as the ability to accurately record and communicate diverse information. Familiarity in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office is beneficial. Certification in CPR/First Aid may be required.

Employees are required to maintain the certification and /or licenses possessed when hired and those gained while an employee of this Agency. any lapsed certification or license may be grounds for discipline, removal from a position or termination of employment.

Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any "do not hire" list. Must respect and maintain confidentiality of all aspects of client treatment.


The crisis counselor will assist the consumer in accessing needed services or community resources. Common services and resources include health care coverage, financial benefits, mental health services, safe affordable housing, medical/dental/vision services, support groups, social clubs and organizations and vocational training. Complete Encounter logs, tally sheets, Adult Assessment and Referral Tool, Child/Youth Assessment Referral Tool. Provider Feedback Forms and Participant Feedback Surveys are also required at 6 and 12 months after the disaster.
