The agency is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health as a provider of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment services and accredited through CARF as a provider of Integrated Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health services at all of its locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited university with a bachelor's degree in public health, education, sociology, psychology, social work, community development, public administration, or a closely related area. Additional years of experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the educational requirements.

Employees who are being trained to provide services under the agency's Prevention contract with Division of Behavioral Health are required to apply with the Missouri Credentialing Board, or its successor, and obtain within 6 months of employment one of the following credentials: Missouri Prevention Specialist (MPS), Certified Reciprocal Prevention Specialist (CRPS), or Missouri Advanced Prevention Specialist (MAPS).

Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any "do not hire" list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Community Prevention Specialist will conduct most of the development and direct service activities of the Prevention Resource Center (PRC) and similar contracts or grants. This employee will work with officers and administrators, Division staff, and the professional and lay public, in the determination of needs, establishment of priorities, formulation of plans, and the development and implementation of community development services which are compatible with the mission and vision of the Division of Behavioral Health and this agency. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function.
