Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health is a community based, healthcare provider of substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring disorder treatment services. The agency is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health as a provider of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment services and accredited through CARF as a provider of Integrated Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health services at all of its locations.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED.  Must be over the age of 21.  Reliable judgment, good observation skills, dependability, and forthright demeanor are required.  It requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.  A Class E Driver's License or lawful equivalent is required at the time of hiring or can be obtained within two weeks thereof.  Certification in CPR/First Aid is required or can be obtained shortly after being hired.  Flexibility to perform shift work is essential, as well as the ability to accurately record and communicate diverse information.  Familiarity in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office is beneficial. 

Employees are required to maintain the certifications and/or licenses possessed when hired and those gained while an employee of this Agency.  Any lapsed certification or license may be grounds for discipline, removal from a position, or termination of employment.

Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services.  Must not be on any "do not hire" list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services. 

Must respect and maintain confidentiality of all aspects of client treatment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Community Reentry Technician position requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers and clients.  Must be able to operate multi-line telephone system, record incoming messages accurately, and to place telephone calls as necessary or directed.  This job classification is covered under the agency's Exposure Control Plan.  Employees in this job classification may reasonably anticipate being occupationally exposed to infectious materials.  This position requires the ability to lead and supervise emergency preparedness drills.  Completion of agency Community Reentry Technician training and orientation/job responsibility program is mandatory. Must exhibit knowledge of behavior management procedures and techniques and follow all agency policies and procedures.  Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.  Overtime may be required in this position.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Supervises, observes, monitors and records the day-to-day activities of clients and advises the appropriate clinical or supervisory personnel of any medical or behavior problems noted.

Responsible for the safety and well-being of the clients and staff members in their charge. Monitors and reports unusual or non-therapeutic client behaviors following established reporting procedures.

Maintains accurate records of client medication procedures and documents the self-administration of approved medications by clients.

Informs clients of the program and facility rules and procedures through client orientation and reminds them as indicated of those rules and procedures as situations warrant.

Responsible for ensuring emergency fire, tornado, and earthquake preparedness drills are conducted and documented as planned and scheduled.

Maintains a safe and clean environment by observing general rules of good housekeeping.

Monitors clients' performances in treatment activities, such as, general housekeeping in the client common areas and assigned sleeping room areas.

Reports maintenance problems, broken or malfunctioning equipment, other mechanical safety concerns following established reporting procedures.

Performs routine shift duties as assigned and scheduled.  Properly maintains Daily Log record keeping of client activities.

Monitors client visitors to assure adherence to agency procedures.

Facilitates admission of new clients into treatment by completing all required paperwork timely and thoroughly as part of the orientation process.

Monitors clients in the social setting detoxification (detox) treatment program component as directed and as required by state certification guidelines.  Makes admission determinations for detox clients as per the counselor on call using agency standards and procedures by monitoring vital signs and other behavioral observations.

Implements and maintains the standards for certification as required by the Department of Mental Health and monitors the program's activity for compliance with those standards.

Collects urine samples and performs Breath Alcohol Testing according to written procedures, closely observing chain of custody guidelines.

Properly collects and documents client vital signs.

Documents appropriately using agency approved formats in an Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.  Documentation must clearly describe the intervention provided, the date, actual time and the individual's response.

Completes the booking sheets, proper pat down searches, vehicle searches, and room searches on Community Reentry Service clients.

Community Reentry Technicians are required to attend Community Reentry Technician meetings as scheduled.  This is mandatory for all Community Reentry Technicians.
